Stitching in progress

I'm still working on the Alabama Chanin swatch of the month project, but have gotten a bit, er, way behind. I'm still working on April's swatch, and have yet to start May's. The swatch for April is my first time doing appliqué this way, I find it much slower than the reverse appliqué. Katie has a couple of one layer, unembellished skirts in the works for simple summer everyday wear.

Of course we brought home lots of supplies from our visit to Alabama Chanin. Our workshop included a kit, Katie and I each chose the tea towels in two different color-ways. We figured that would be just the right amount of fabric to make a one layer skirt. We picked out several yards of their beautiful organic cotton too. Can't wait to get stitching with these beautiful new materials! Tomorrow we'll share photos of the retail space at Alabama Chanin, and Friday our visit to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed house in Florence, be sure to check back!
