::Tangents is the collection spot for the things we're thinking about, obsessively researching, and doing at home and on the web.
Strider went to the Berea College surplus auction on behalf of our family yesterday-look what he brought home:
We have the *perfect* spot for it in our (ahem-still under construction) laundry room. As if that wasn't cool enough, it was filled with these:
Almost 400(!) pom poms. Yes. Inspired by this project, my boys helped me string some of them into garlands.
More fiber-y awesomeness-he also bought a box of weaving samples and scraps.
Also this week, I noticed the beloved poppies I carefully transplanted from our old house and thought for certain had died in the heat of last summer are actually alive and coming back-hoping for blooms this year!
I'm still working my way through my Asian Dumplings cookbook and made steamed pork buns today. (here's a recipe, but these are baked and I steamed mine.) Oh wow, they were amazing. I still can't get over that magical steamed-bun texture and I'm pretty pleased I can make food that tastes that good!
Still thinking and reading (but not acting!) about riding bikes to school. My husband Michael says I should wait until the weather warms to avoid a mutiny, and he might be right, BUT there have been families walking to school all winter! Need to make some progress on that front.
I've been planning how I'll fill my raised garden beds, as there are so many plants I want to grow this year and I have just 10 small beds. I like how graphically this blogger did the same.
Have you read Me Before You? I skipped making dinner and stayed up too late last week reading it. I recommend it. Though I have to say, my crying at the end of the book woke up Michael who was sleeping soundly!
