Grown-Up Art Camp

Laura came into town everyday last week as her oldest son went to art camp. So we had art camp too. Here are some shots of projects from the past week.

:: Working on the short, slim skirt from Alabama Studio Sewing and Design. We're both making one and were delighted to discover you can *just* barely fit the pattern pieces for a size S skirt onto a XL t-shirt. I've been hoping to make some clothing from this beautiful book for months and am grateful for Laura's hand-holding (and fabric!) so I could get started.

:: I finally got to use my cool vintage needles.

:: And learned to make the correct kind of knots for hand sewing. Our skirts are stitched by hand, with felled seams. I'll share more about them another day- they turned out great- fit perfectly and are so light and cool for summer.

:: Laura started another (secret for now) sewing project.

:: We received and wound the yarn for our sweaters, happy to be back on track with that project.

:: And began a big new project, working on pattern drafting for the first time to make a complicated Alabama Chanin style garment. More on that soon as well!
