Tangents

:: Tangents is a new weekly series we'll post every Sunday. It's the collection spot for the things we're thinking about, obsessively researching, and doing at home and on the web.

Katie's Tangents:

Tamar Adler's book "An Everlasting Meal: Cooking with Economy and Grace." Here's a video she made about one of the chapters. The book is lovely and helpful.

Video series about the last clog maker in England.

Folk Art of Asia, Africa, Austraila and the Americas. Library book sale score, rich with color and pattern.

Lots of people are knitting up the little Jack O'Lantern I designed. It's a free pattern and so quick and cute. Maybe you should make one too.

Laura's Tangents:

I recently enjoyed reading Foraged Flavor by Tama Matsuoka Wong. Her website has some helpful foraging resources-including a plant ID forum and a foraging calendar. In the same vein I just picked up The Wild Gourmets by Guy Grieve & Thomaina Miers...

I've been stricken with a creative fever making something involving  felt and the image of a bird skull:

I'm grateful for the time we have spent in our woods lately-fall and winter are really the time to be out there whether walking or working:
