Knitting projects in process

Inspired by the long Noro mitts Katie made last winter, I've made a thumb-less pair for myself:

Katie used Silk Garden, I picked Taiyo-I love the feel of the fabric, and of course the colorway, but as I was knitting the yarn broke repeatedly....blech, still have lots of depressing ends to weave in.

These are crazy long-17 inches-and as I was finishing them I began the short sleeve Idlewood sweater. I was planning on making an Alabama Stitch style shirt with embellished sleeves to go underneath, but! how about attaching these new mitts instead? The colors really work together and I love the contrast of the gauges. My Idlewood is going fast-it has a giant 15 1/2" cowl neck:

I got this yarn for $5.00 a skein when we were in PA. It is a joy to work with, although my new Addi needles may be a big reason why...Next knitting project-slippers for me and the boys-they've placed their orders after trying on projects from Katie's book. I am still undecided, she has designed so many appealing slippers, I'm going to have to make myself a few different pairs!
