This summer from July 9-16, our town of Berea is hosting a "Festival of Learnshops." This will be a week-long event and there are all kinds of classes, from jewelry making and glass blowing to bonsai and yoga. We are pleased to be a part of this event and we're teaching a few classes.
First, learn to knit or improve your knitting skills with me and my friend Laura Wick. We're going to be putting together super-cute project bags with local yarn, knitting needles and an instructional booklet so you will take home everything you need to begin knitting.
For drop-dead beginners we're doing a "Learn to Knit" class July 14 from 9:30 AM -12:30.
If you've learned to knit before but can't remember how to cast on, or would like to learn how to read a pattern, we're offering "Knitting Next Steps" on July 14 from 2:00-5:00 PM.
Next up, I'm going to teach a Backyard Chicken Keeping workshop on July 11 from 3:00-6:00 PM. I am excited to share what I know about keeping a few hens. As a part of the class you'll also get my plans for building a Gypsy wagon chicken coop of your own, because who doesn't want a Gypsy wagon in their backyard?
Finally, our big class: "Craft Your Online Presence." Kickstart your creative business by spending two days with us. We'll teach you how to build your own website and blog and sell what you make on your site. We're going to talk about blogging, selling both real goods and e-products like knitting patterns, using Etsy, product photography- a bit of everything! We started Duo Fiberworks about 4 years ago and have learned so much along the way. It's grown to be a popular blog where we sell our ebook and my knitting patterns
Here's what I am super-excited about- we're teaching the class in a laptop lab and the whole class will be hands on. So you'll leave the class with a baby e-commerce website, all ready for you to complete on your own at home.
The class is limited to 14 participants and meets July 15 and 16 from 9:30-5:30. I hope you can join us!
