Running a bit late this week, yesterday was one of those days when I popped inside only to make food for my family, it was a beautiful day to work in the garden. I started building our chicken coop, how exciting!
1. I am loving the series of guest posts that Kathreen at WhipUp has been running. Shannon of Luvinthemommyhood contributed a free pdf pattern for a large and flexible knitting needle holder. It's got room for any kind of knitting needle: straight, dpn's and circulars.
2. It's not remotely craft related, but I wanted to share something I really liked this week. I am planning to set up a graywater system at our place to distribute our laundry and shower water to our landscape. For many families, (ours included) the washing machine is a major source of graywater, and the cost/benefit ratio is really good for installing a simple distribution system to transfer the wash water to the garden. However, I am not a plumber. I invested in Art Ludwig's Laundry to Landscape DVD and now the process could not be more clear. After watching it, I have a clear sense of what I need to do and purchase. Even if you are only remotely interested in graywater, you should check out the site, there are free directions and materials list on the Laundry to Landscape page.
3. One more garden-related thing, have you seen the free outdoor kitchen plans from StudioMama?
I bought her plans for pallet chairs last spring but was intimidated by the scale of the project and never built them. I've got more building experience under my belt now and am still planning to build them this year. Now I would like to build her kitchen too, my building queue is growing! My goal for this summer is to make a great outdoor dining area and I think this kitchen would be a great addition.
Now I'm off to finish framing my chicken coop, I'll post photos soon, but I'll give you a hint about where I'm headed design-wise-
