Right after we build a house....

My husband Strider and I are taking our mid-winter daydreaming about gardening & homesteading to the next level. Maybe we soaked up too much vernacular architecture while visiting the Pennsylvania countryside, or paged through Eric Sloane's books once too often...we've been talking about building a barn. Specifically, a Pennsylvania German bank barn. A barn with thick walls:

Useful sliding doors would be nice:

Our barn would have a place for everything, like tool shelves right where you need them:

I'm sure you can still track down hardware like this:

I've gotten used to seeing Kentucky tobacco barns painted black, I think we all know barns are really supposed to be red.
