Guppy is a super-simple knitted and felted sailboat that features a "wood" deck, a sturdy mast and a colorful sail, see the previous post for a few more photos. Don't forget that I'll be posting four more patterns each Wednesday for the next few weeks, so subscribe to our blog if you don't want to miss anything- see the link on the top of the sidebar.

Of course, I am already planning to knit a whole rainbow armada, but that will have to wait because next week I will post a pattern for someone to ride inside these little sailboats. Any suggestions?

I think this Playmobil guy is lonely.
I hope you enjoy the pattern and make some sailboats of your own!

These would be adorable Christmas Tree ornaments - and I will be suggesting readers link to this post for exactly that reason closer to the holidays! Can't wait to see what else you are cooking up!
Thank you Pam! I would be delighted for you to link to the pattern. I am working on some little creatures to ride inside the boat today.
I have declared 2011 the year I learn to knit (and keep trying long enough to remember how) so I'm bookmarking fun and simple knitting projects - I'm hoping not to do the typical wonky scarf. This is a goer for sure! Since it's felted do you think it might float?
Steph,I am glad you like the boat! We have not tested it out in the water, but it might float, at least for a while, good luck!
I fell in love with this pattern and wanted to make it for my brother (a 26 year old sailing teacher) for christmas this year, and I know he would love it too, but I don't own or know how to use double pointed needles. Could you suggest any way of doing this with regular knitting needles??
Hello Evie! I think you could knit it flat and then seam it. You would have to add one stitch on each side for seaming, and pay attention to changing stitch counts in each row because of them, but it should work otherwise, it's a very simple shape. Plus, the felting will hide the seam. Good luck!
I know these have been around for a little while, but I want you to know that I still LOVE these sailboats!
Thanks Ammie! They were fun to make.
