A spoon to use

I finished a spoon the other day. It's the first one I can actually use with food- it's carved from birch and has a flax seed oil finish. It made the serving of leftover black bean salad feel special- at least as special as leftover black bean salad can be!

It's definitely a beginner's spoon, but it makes me happy. I am going to a spoon-making workshop tomorrow- hopefully I will learn some tricks about how to make the spoon rim tidy and keeping the lip of the spoon from getting too thin- two things I am having trouble with. A spoon I was working on tonight is translucent- too thin I think!

That spoon is outrageously cool! The salad looks pretty darn good too.

Thanks for blogging about this - I'm really interested and think I might like to give it a go myself!
