Recent stitching

Although I’ve been discouraged at my progress on the studio project recently, I’ve enjoyed working on several  hand stitching projects instead.  I had done very little crafting this summer until the building slowed. Getting some hand work done has inspired me to get back to work on my pretty new work space! Lately I’ve worked on the baby quilt, my Alabama Stitch skirt (almost done with 3 of the 4 panels), an Alabama Stitch inspired tee for my brother:

and most recently, a couple of wool felt toy balls.

I have two gatherings to go to soon celebrating friends who are pregnant, and so made these soft, sturdy balls as gifts. They use the 100% wool felt I hand dyed with natural dyes, and are stuffed with wool roving. I’m pleased with the way they turned out. My boys can’t seem to keep their hands off of them, I may make a few more for Christmas gifts! I’m working on a free tutorial for this simple project, and will be listing little bundles of rainbow felt for sale on etsy if they look like something you’d like to make.
