To celebrate the publication of the Small Dolls pattern, we are having our first-ever giveaway! When I made a doll for my nephew Isaac a couple weeks ago I thought it would be fun to make more "custom" dolls that look like the child for whom they are intended. For example, I have always thought that this doll-

looks like my oldest son Julian because he is tan with dark eyes and dark hair. He delights in playing with mini-Julian.
Isaac loves dogs and he has light brown hair and ice-blue eyes, so the Isaac doll has those things.

So here's the contest- Leave a comment between now and July 19. Share what characteristics or accessories your doll would have if you won.
Using the random.org random number generator, I will randomly select one commenter and will craft a custom Small Doll for them, complete with a knitted and sewn wardrobe.
Also, I will randomly choose 3 additional commenters who will receive a free copy of the Small Dolls pattern booklet.
To see more images of the Small Dolls or if you just can't wait to begin creating a Small Doll of your own, you can check out the pattern in my shop, Hedgehog Lane, or on Ravelry.
Here are some of the dolls I made using the pattern.

Hooray! Good luck!

I LOVE these dolls and so would my girls! If I could have one custom made it would be a girl with short brown hair, and bright blue eyes. I'm not sure about any detail of the clothing other than it would have to be pink! What a beautiful doll it would be! :)

These little guys are adorable! Love how they are patterned after your children!
Your dolls are so cute! If I were to win, I would want the doll to resemble my 3 year old daughter. She is fair, with blue eyes and a dimple on her right cheek. She loves wearing dresses and red.
So cute!
Very cool Kate.
How beautiful! I'd love a doll with light brown curly hair (if that's possible) and brown eyes. I love these dolls.
These little people are so cute!! My daughter would love a blonde-haired, blue-eyed doll that looks like her. I like that they are poseable as well. Of course, she'd have to be wearing something pink and carrying a purse. :)
What adorable dolls! Even though my son is 19 years old I would love one that looked like him when he was little. Blonde hair and blue eyes. It would be so adorable!
I love your blog and all your wonderful ideas. :)

Oh I love these dolls! If I were to get custom dolls I would need a girl and a boy. The girl would have brown hair and brown eyes with tan skin and purple clothes (she loves purple and pink these days) and the boy would need blonde hair and blue eyes and fair skin with blue clothes. My kids are opposite from each other but they are both bioliogicaly mine. It's cute. Oh and they would both need almond shaped eyes because they have some Japonese in them. I would love these custom dolls... too cute.
these are just adorable and the possibilities are endless what a fantastic idea
and lovely thought for a giveaway of such a fantastic unique design
well done
These are the sweetest dolls! I can't figure out if a Jenny-doll would be a doll of who I am or a doll for who I wish I was.
The "real" Jenny-doll would have long brown/red hair. She would have very pale skin and wear blue "jeans" with a very brightly colored shirt. If at all possible, she'd have glasses.
The "dream" Jenny-doll would have shoulder length purple hair (I've always wanted purple hair but never had the guts for it). She would not need her glasses but might have them anyway if they were cool and fun looking. She'd wear a long dress very much like the blond doll on the right in the picture you posted above.
Either Jenny would probably have a book with her :-)
I LOVE so much your little dolls!!!
You make a great job!
Sorry for my bad English.
I'm from Italy and I'm opening my little knitting shop in 5 terre. So if I can have a little doll that is knitting......!!!!!
I would like to have one of the dolls to look like my nephew's step daughter. She is 18 months old with dark brown hair and eyes with a light complexion. Her favorite colors are purple and pink. She wears both pants and dresses.

If it is for me: long brown hair with bangs, brown eyes, light skinned, love tank tops with cardigans with 1 button, 2 small kids (7 girl--see below & boy 9--straight blondish brown hair with bangs) probably knitting or reading
if it is for my daughter: long straight brown hair, no bangs, brown eyes, full of energy (laughing), with school supplies (she likes to play teacher) or dolls of her own (she likes to play mom)
Such a lovely idea! My doll should resemble me, in my works clothes: a lab coat with my golden hair in a knot, as the doll will be for my boyfriend, so he won't miss me while at work!
Your dolls are georgous! I'd ask to have one made for my niece Laura. Laura loves fantasy play - she loves to "become: Little Orphan Annie and the American Girl dolls - how much fun would it be for her to actually BE the doll?! She'd got big hazel eyes and thick shoulder-length brown hair. She loves animals and takes horseback riding lessons. Might be ful to have her doll in riding gear leading a horse... or an Annie dress with one of her black lab dogs...
I think you're dolls are adorable. I'd love to win one or, even, better, the pattern booklet, as I have two girls and they will both love these beautiful creations. A light brown/dark blond girl with green eyes in a blue dress would fill my little people with wonder. Thank you so much for this giveaway!
Your dolls are so cute and soooo original. I love them. If the doll was to look like me it would have long brown hair, green almond shaped eyes, and be wearing a pink dress. I think it would be awesome if she could be holding mini knitting needles and knitting or some sort of craft tool...I love creating things!!!
So adorable! Well, I seem to be one of those people who wears many "hats". So, she could be decked out in some punk wear with a microphone in a band, comfy with her glasses knitting, or in shorts or overalls out backpacking in the woods. Of course she would have to have bright red (blonde striped) hair and blue eyes!
Aren't they delightful! Well done!
Original and unique.
